What we collect when you enquire or book, why we hold it, who else sees it, and how long we keep it.

LAST UPDATED 17 SEPTEMBER 2026  ·  AFRICA AMAZE LTD · KILIMANJARO, TANZANIA

We are a small operator in Kilimanjaro. We ask for the details we need to answer your enquiry, get you a permit, and keep you safe on the mountain. We do not sell your details to anyone, and we do not run advertising trackers on this site.

1. Who we are

Africamaze Ltd is a tour operator registered in Tanzania, holding a TALA tourist agent licence. Our office is in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region. We are the data controller for the information described in this policy.

For any question about your data, write to privacy@africamaze.com or use the details in section 11.

2. What we collect

When you enquire. Your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, country of residence, the dates and trip you are asking about, group size, and anything you choose to tell us in the message field.

When you book. Passport name, passport number, nationality, date of birth, emergency contact, dietary requirements, travel insurance policy number and insurer, arrival and departure flight details, and next of kin.

Health information. Existing medical conditions, medication, allergies, and fitness relevant to altitude. On the mountain we record twice-daily pulse and oxygen saturation readings on a health chart. We collect this because we cannot run a safe climb without it, and we treat it as the most sensitive information we hold.

Payment information. Bank transfer references and the name on the account. Card payments are handled by our payment provider — the card number never reaches us and we do not store it.

When you use the site. Pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, browser and device type, and how you arrived. Collected in aggregate through analytics, described in section 7.

6. Where your data goes

Our office systems are in Tanzania. Our website hosting, email and form provider may store data outside Tanzania, including in the European Union and the United States. Where we send information to a provider in another country, we rely on that provider’s standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

7. Cookies and analytics

This site sets a small number of cookies. Necessary ones remember whether you have dismissed a notice and keep the enquiry form working; they cannot be switched off. Analytics cookies tell us which pages people read and where they leave, and they only run if you accept them.

We use Google Analytics, Plausible for analytics. We do not run advertising or remarketing pixels. You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time; the site will still work.

8. Your rights

Whatever country you are in, you can ask us to:

Write to us and we will answer within 30 days. There is no charge. If you are in the UK or EEA and you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to your national data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.

One limit worth stating plainly: if you ask us to delete medical or insurance details before a climb, we cannot take you onto the mountain.

9. How we protect it

Booking files are held in access-controlled accounts, and only the staff working on your trip can open them. Passport scans are stored in a restricted folder and deleted on the schedule in section 5. Health charts are paper on the mountain and are shredded at the office. Everyone in the company signs a confidentiality undertaking.

No system is perfect. If a breach happens that affects you, we will tell you and the relevant authority within 72 hours of discovering it.

10. Children

We take bookings that include children, but always through a parent or guardian, who provides the child’s details and consents on their behalf. We do not market to children and we do not knowingly collect details directly from anyone under 18.

11. Contact and changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will email anyone with a live booking.
