Zanzibar for families
Zanzibar works very well for families: warm water, short transfers and plenty to do between beach days.
Best beaches for children
The north (Nungwi, Kendwa) is swimmable at all tides. On the east coast, the tide goes out a long way, which is fun for rock pools but limits swimming at low tide.
Family-friendly hotels
Look for family rooms or villas, a shallow pool, a kids’ club and a beach suitable for swimming. Check age policies, as some hotels are adults-only.
